My Year of Wild Art: Day Twenty

Goodness, I almost forgot to make a post before heading to the Land of Nod!

I made this little circle journal with cut-outs from the papers for my Dream album, and adhered them to heavy cardstock. I’ll have to embellish them another time, as I’m ready for sleep now. Good night!

My Year of Wild Art: Day Nineteen

I finally got around to recycling some of my turtleneck shirts! I wanted to try to fix the ragged cuffs and keep wearing the shirts, until I realized they are pretty worn out and better used for something else.

The striped shirt got turned into a shopping bag with knotted fringe to close up the bottom, and the yellow tank top just needed to be closed at the hem.

For the solid blue shirt, I attempted to make a kind of shrug that I watched a video on, cutting off sleeves, opening the side seams and enlarging the neck. The idea is to turn the shirt sideways, draped around back of neck, then stick the arms through the enlarge neck hole. I think the lady in the video is tiny, because when I tried that, I felt strangled around the middle! So I re-sewed one of the side seams and just turned it into a shawl.

My Year of Wild Art: Day Eighteen

Today I decided to postpone my trip to North Carolina for various reasons, the biggest one being I need more time to raise the funds for travel. A bit disappointing, and I’m planning that I’ll be able to reschedule the journey some time in April.

Did two loads of laundry and took a walk; it was warmish though breezy and overcast for most of the day. This evening I decided to do some mending. I don’t like eating with plastic flatware or those splintery, pull-apart chopsticks when I travel, so I had made carrying cases for real flatware and chopsticks.

However, the holder for the latter got all worn out, and the holder for flatware was just too big and things kept falling out. I finally got around to adding some more seams and a center strip of fabric to snug up the fork, knife and spoon, as well as re-hemming one edge of that holder.

I thought about using a cardboard tube to hold the chopsticks, although that is heavier than fabric. Then I had a brilliant idea! I simply added a drawstring with beads on either end to the mesh bag my garlic came in and voila! Perfect chopstick holder!

What brilliant ideas have you come up with lately?

My Year of Wild Art: Day Seventeen

One of my readers wants to purchase the little file folders and the card holder I made last night, very exciting! I made another mini folder decorated with music paper on request, as the one with pink roses is part of the album I’m making. I hope she loves the new one!

My Year of Wild Art: Day Sixteen

I did it! I created three new things and finished the one I began last night!

Decided to turn the vanilla box into a holder for cards or art supplies; just seemed the best thing to do.

Card Holder

Then I made 3 mini file folders, inspired once again by Pam of the Paper Outpost. Thanks, Pam!

The one with the deer and the pink rosey one were cut from a UPS envelope that I cut down (it already had a nice fold), and the lavender colored one was made from a recycled cardboard tube. What fun! The biggest one measures 4″ x 6″, the next is 3″ x 5″, and the smallest is 2.25″ x 4″.  These can be used to clip onto a journal page or tucked into a pocket. Let me know what you think of them!

My Year of Wild Art: Day Fifteen

Some day soon I need to get back to creating my art in the middle of the day, not starting late at night! I’ve just had a lot of appointments and errands stacked up over the past week, which threw me off course.

Here are two pretty bookmarks cut from another paper collection; they are too tall to go into my “Dream” album, so I will use them in another project. The have blank card on the back, so they could even be written on. EnJoy!

My Year of Wild Art: Day Fourteen

I went to see my naturopath today and was given some new recommendations for supplements, always a good thing. Then I had a meeting with my beloved Sufi teacher, and it was time for an early dinner!

I did not get started on art until late evening again, so here is the start of a mini journal cover, made from a recycled vanilla box and some fabric samples. I love these greens!  Enjoy the creation so far.

My Year of Wild Art: Day Thirteen

I did not know how challening it would be to actually create something every day, and be consistent! I went to get a treatment from my chiropractor, then shopped for groceries and picked up some books at a Little Free Library near me.

Had a very early dinner, then got on my Artists of Toastmasters Virtual Tea Party at 5:30. That was fun! I gave a brief history of tea, shared some excerpts from my unpublished cookbook, and showed off my teapot collection. (I now have 10! See photo below–I forgot one in the arrangement)

I also spent over an hour sorting through piles of paper on my desk, tossing things and organizing in my search for 2 particular documents, which never did show up. Ack! So it was very late when I suddenly remembered that I had not created anything and I was needing something quick and easy again.

I decided to make another collage from paper scraps and bits and bobs; it’s a little weird and I kind of like it. What do you think? The silver circle in upper left is the seal from a jug of almond drink; I washed and dried it, then cut the outer edge with pinking shears. EnJoy!

My Year of Wild Art: Day Twelve

I did it! I took a leap of faith and made the deposit on the Air-bnb room in NC, trusting that I’ll quickly manifest the rest of the money for my trip and for a couple of bills. I see myself going on this trip with ease and flow, fully resourced and Divinely supplied. Thank you Goddess! So be it.

Today I finished laundry, shared tea and laughter with a friend, and received a delightful massage this evening. My therapist makes house calls, too! Yesssss! I AM so blessed.

Here is a beautiful clutch I made from a small paper bag covered with silk fabrics, lace and pearl trims. If you wish to purchase this clutch bag, visit the listing here in my boutique. EnJoy!

My Year of Wild Art: Day Eleven

It took me a long time to figure out what to create, and I finally got something made tonight! Two somethings, as a matter of fact!

The first is pen, pencil or eyeglass holder, made from a recycled cardboard tube that I covered with paper. The bottom is closed with two circles of card, covered with pink felt inside and out. I added some pretty lace to the top edge.

The second item is a little bag I made from recycled wrapping paper! Another idea I got from Pam of the Paper Outpost. Thank you Pam!
