My Year of Wild Art: Day Two Hundred-Nineteen

Sending out prayers to all those in Florida and S. Carolina who are affected by Hurricane Ian. I pray that you have evacuated if need be, and are safe and well. ❤ ❤

Today my creativity was focused on updating and paring down my artist bio; check it out here on this page! Later in the day I went up the mountain to visit a friend; we had a nice soak in her hot tub, then enjoyed snacks on her deck. It was a perfect-weather day!

Since this is a visual blog, here is a lovely felt bird that I made for a friend years ago. EnJoy!

In need of a quick and easy project for this evening, I came across a tutorial by Pam of the Paper Outpost for this little envelope booklet. It’s great for holding stickers, tags, love notes or ephemera that can be added to a journal or given by itself. I will have to finish decorating and filling the pockets tomorrow. EnJoy this preview!

Today I went shopping at a Goodwill store and found some new toys! A pack of markers (only one out of ink), a box of nearly new 64 Crayola Crayons, a metal stand with drawer to hold my telephone, 3 nesting star-shaped boxes, and a beautiful little Boyd Bear to add to my collection – all for $6.70 (10% off)!! Joy!

I did not make anything new and am not feeling energetic enough to start something now. Here is a little pouch I knitted up a few years ago; I suppose I ought to wear it on occasion. EnJoy!

Today I decided to make something different. I recycled an empty Pringles can–washed and dried–covering it first in a scrap of lovely cream damask, then covered that with pretty lace. I covered up the seams with 2 lengths of pink lace trim, which I also added to the opposite side of the can. I added a ruffle I made from sheer white ribbon to the bottom edge of the can, and topped that with a strand of pink faux pearls. I covered the lid inside and out with the same fabric, stitching two layers of gathered lace trims to the top piece of fabric before adhering that to the lid. I sewed a clip-on earring in the center of the laces, after cutting off the clip. EnJoy!

Got the last bill paid for this month, yay!

I attempted to create something new, but again was unproductive and not inspired. Sigh. I think I need to branch out in new directions for a while in my art. I wonder what I’ll try next?

Here is a mug mat I made from a scrap of fabric some time ago; I have it on my bedside table to pad my water bottle. I love toile patterns!

A lovely lazy day today! And hot again. Surely it’s time for Fall weather now.

This evening I carved another avocado pit, but have found them too dark to get good photos with my computer’s camera. Next time a friend visits, I’ll get pictures of the various carved pits I’ve made. I also made this little nothing in the photo here, wrapping yarn around a plastic ring that I pulled from a jug of juice. It could become a light pull, a charm for a journal, or just an ornament. EnJoy!

A warm and sunny day, perfect for hanging out my wash. I didn’t do much else besides read, then this evening a friend dropped by and stayed for dinner of tomato soup and fabulous grilled cheese sandwiches, with a lovely Kerrigold cheese from Ireland. Yum!

This evening I played around a bit with an altered book I’m still deciding how to decorate, then realized I wanted something finished to show for my post.  I removed a couple more pages that were loose and made this fun little pocket, held closed by a button flower I made some time ago. EnJoy!

Hallelujah! I asked for help and a colleague ordered some essential oils through me, so I could pay the bills that were due today and go see my chiropractor next week and buy gas, too! Phew!

I baked my awesome cookies today, and a neighbor came to share pasta dinner with me to celebrate her birthday, which was on Tuesday. She took some photos of my table display, too; here it is. EnJoy!

Today I made a fabulous pasta sauce from a Marcella Hazan recipe, with pancetta, ground lamb, mushrooms, and tomatoes. Divine! I served it with elbow noodles, pecorino Romano cheese (from sheep’s milk), broccoli and toasted olive bread. Yum!

That was my creation for today. I did get a brisk walk in, also spent time trying to sell some art so I can finish paying bills that are due tomorrow, Friday! I would so love it if some of you readers could purchase some art! Go here to view all the goodies in my boutique.

Meanwhile, I’m sharing this litle box with a tiny notebook inside. EnJoy!

I often feel as though I’m drowning! When people don’t answer my messages or follow through, when no sales come in and I still have bills to pay, when I’m all alone and feeling as though I’m doing everything alone, it’s hard to stay positive and upbeat. Ever have those days? I send love and encouragement to all!

I forgot to post again yesterday! Ah, well. I Finally mustered up the energy this evening to make a little ATC from a playing card; this time it worked! I rounded the corners first, then painted one side of the card with lavender paint. Added a pocket to that side and covered the other side with more paper, and finished with a tiny notebook in the pocket and a few trims. EnJoy!
