Gorgeous Papers!

The other day I boiled up some beets for my salad and saved the cooking water. Later I strained the ruby water into a glass baking pan, then dipped individual sheets of paper in to dye them. I layered the papers in baking pans and left them out in the sun to dry.

I am SO in love with how these came out! Used beet pieces to stamp one page and my hands to print another. The last is a piece of tan letterhead paper, didn’t come out as nicely as the rest.

Beet juice on fabric, when dried, tends to look brownish, like blood. Not so on paper. The papers are a lovely raspberry pink darker in some places, lighter in others. Just gorgeous! I cannot wait to create with these. EnJoy!

Three More Paper Pouches

Even though I don’t usually make multiples of any project, I’ve gotten rather hooked on making these little pouch-pockets! I used newspaper for the Princess and Woodland pouches, and a small paper bag to make the Follow Your Dreams pouch. Which one is your favorite? EnJoy!

Two Pretty Pouches

I made these two little pouches from magazine and newspaper pages, inspired by Natasa of Treasure Books. I simply love pouches and pockets!

I used magazine pages for the Cherries Pouch, along with some papers from the Graphic 45 “Life’s a Bowl of Cherries” collection. The checked purse on the front was cut from a magazine ad, and the back side was a page that featured fancy laundry baskets. I fussy cut a whole bunch of cherries and arranged them to fill up the basket on the left.

The newspaper pouch is decorated and loaded with various bits in my stash, including the striped fabric and the grey card made with the inside of a business envelope. The blue tag is something I made some time ago; the floral tag is an image cut from an outdated Victorian ephemera calendar. EnJoy!

A Lovely Little Journal

Here is another pretty journal I made from a greeting card. I covered up the messages inside and out so the receiver can add her own messages, as well as the printed information on the back of the card. I used scraps from the gorgeous Hortensia papers from Stamperia and some lovely stickers that I’ve had for years. EnJoy!

Look What I made!

For the past three days I have been turning an old towel and worn out PJs into new and useful things. I made a bath mat and beach bag from the towel, using old wash cloths for pockets and fabric left from a customer commission for the handles.

The PJs got turned into a variety of things, each photo is labeled. EnJoy!

Two New Creations!

I’m enjoying a rainy Saturday on the 2nd of September, doing laundy, bringing a few cool weather garments in from garage storage and taking a few warm weather garments out. A nice day to relax and putter! I’ve been hired to sew two tunics for a customer to wear at work, so I may do a bit of sewing on the first one later on.

Here is a lovely little shoulder bag I made recently; the outside is a soft, moss green velvet remnant from a friend who makes drapes and pillows and the lining is another remnant I had in my stash.

Also upcycled an ice cream container with this pretty linen scrap with yellow flowers. EnJoy!

Custom Order Completed
