Velvet and Lace Jar Sewing Kit
I’m enjoying a rainy Saturday on the 2nd of September, doing laundy, bringing a few cool weather garments in from garage storage and taking a few warm weather garments out. A nice day to relax and putter! I’ve been hired to sew two tunics for a customer to wear at work, so I may do a bit of sewing on the first one later on.
Here is a lovely little shoulder bag I made recently; the outside is a soft, moss green velvet remnant from a friend who makes drapes and pillows and the lining is another remnant I had in my stash.
Also upcycled an ice cream container with this pretty linen scrap with yellow flowers. EnJoy!
One of my first sewing customers this summer hired me to transform an old doll into a fairyfor his magic show. He loves her new outfit and is delighted with my work! Here are before and after photos. EnJoy!
I’m now offering sewing and alteration services! Mostly local businsess, though you’re always welcome to pay for shipping if you’re not in my county. I can also make aprons, pot holders, napkins, coasters, and more. Just got a commission to make a custom doll for a local magician!
Today I finished embellishing this treasure box, made from a recycled cardboard tube. I created the bottom and the lid from circles of mat board scraps, and added a rim to the lid made from paper adhered to cardstock. I learned that paper does not like curling, at least not without a few creases! Perhaps next time I’ll try steam ironing the paper before curling to see if that helps.
