Today I went to the Grand Re-Opening of a team member’s UFO business. I was really impressed by the display of supplements and other products she had out, and I got to sample the Cider Vinegar and Ginger Gummies (sooo tasty!), along with some of the other supplements. Very fun! My friend is also a seamstress who alters wedding gowns and prom dresses and has some fabric and trims left from when she owned a store. I’m definitely going back to shop for trims soon!

I found this folded notebook cover when I was looking for something else in a drawer, and decided to add pages to it and put it to use! EnJoy!

Today I decided to make a doily journal, inspired by Natasa of Treasure Books, and to use 3 prompts from a weekly challenge by Pam of The Paper Outpost. The prompts were doily, blue, and coin. Somehow I could not find a way to add a coin, image or word, in a way that was pleasing to me, so I decided to skip that prompt.

I used two doilies glued together for the cover, and cut some folded pages in roughly similar shapes to make the signature, which I sewed in with my machine. I used a downloaded bodice and heart shaped skirt pieces (shapes from Gi Kerr of Happiness in Crafting) cut from a paper napkin for the skirt. EnJoy!

Today I went to the Yuba River with a friend and her daughter for a swim and picnic lunch. I got invaded by a bunch of groun squirrels when I was eating my lunch; they kept coming up to try to get at my food! Bold fellows, not easily scared away. I finally went and sat by the water to eat in peace. Meantime, my friends swam upstream to a waterfall, unbeknownst to me, so I had a mostly solo time at the river. Hmmmm. Not quite what I had in mind for an outing with friends!

We are in for temps in the triple digits by the weekend, not fun. I wish I could go off to the ocean for the rest of the week!

I did not make anything new today, so thought I’d share this fun Earring Holder I made from a grater that has a an end piece missing. I painted it with acrylic paint. EnJoy!

Today I decided to make a pencil box from an empty Lindt chocolate bar box, and I cut part of the sleeve off an old tee shirt someone gave me to cover the box. These pretty flowers and leave give it added pizzazz. EnJoy!

Another day with no new art–and I nearly forgot to make a post!  I spent more time on my wellness business, talking to folks and sending out information, so I did have a productive day.

Several years ago I attended a class on making ornaments from gourds; these are the two projects I completed. EnJoy!

This evening I finally finished decorating this fun little accordian file made from recycled book pages. This seems to be all the rage these days–some refer to it as a rolodex. Anyhow, it’s a pretty way to organize and store some bits and pieces that can be used in future art projects. One could also use this to store greeting cards by month or by season, or for holding seed packets or whatever you wish.

I hand stitched the lace to the ribbon, then glued the whole over each end of the page pockets, securing the ribbon to the base made from a scrap of mat board. I did not space the pages out as evenly as I wish when attaching the ribbons, and it still works.

Today I drove to Auburn to see my chiropractor there, then took myself on an Artist Date at Michael’s craft store. I found a lot of items on clearance that I added to my cart and took to the register. Alas, I didn’t have enough available balance on my credit card, so I had to leave it all behind. Oh, well, it was fun shopping and seeing all the possibilities for making more projects! Lots of inspiration.

Where do you go when you take yourself on an Artist Date?

I spent the rest of the day working on my wellness business website; oooh, is it ever challenging to get things lined up the way I wanted them to be! I did get a couple of new pages added, made several others private as my focus has shifted, and see that some pages need to be updated. Another day! I got worn out with what I did for the site and decided I’m done for the day.

Again, I did not finish my latest art project, though I made a bit of progress. Soon! Meantime, here is a beautiful hat I knitted (and sold) years ago. EnJoy!

Exciting news: I’m officially half-way through my 365-day art challenge! Woo-hoooo! Only 182 more days to go!

I started a new project this afternoon, and since it’s not finished, I’ll have to post it tomorrow. I also spent a long time mending some tears in my summer cotton night gown–by hand! I made a patch on the inside and sewing by hand was necessary for this delicate work. Done!

I made this pretty scrap journal from a mailing envelope that a friend decorated with a pretty paisley napkin before mailing some more paper napkins to me to use in my art. I put two layers of paper bag on the inside of the cover (on the first layer, I did not pay attention and the type on the bag was exposed!), then added a signature with various other papers, pockets and envelopes.
