Paper Bag Clutches!

Some time ago I made some paper bag clutches that hold mini journals, using paper to cover the clutches. Then I decided to make one covered in fabric and lace, and this one emerged. As the clutch was developed, I realized that I wanted it to simply be an evening bag and not hold a journal, so I lined the interior with cream silk fabric and made a lace inner pocket. The flap slides under the rhinestone button to hold the purse closed. The lady and butterflies on the back and the roses inside the flap are all from Graphic 45 Le Romantique paper collection.

I chose a black patterned fabric for the next clutch, again to be used for an evening bag. I love the embroidered design! The fabric covered buttons were in my stash and are a perfect match. The clutch closes with a cord wound around the two buttons and tied in a knot.  I chose not to embellish this one very much, as the fabric lends itself to a more spare look.

All fabrics are from FabMo, an organization here in northern CA that collects discarded samples/remnants and passes them along to artisans. The trims are a mixture of recycled and new.
