I made this lovely little pincushion yesterday; can you guess what the base is made of? I used the lid from a pack of baby wipes! One less item to go into landfill. Enjoy!

I had this piece of an old velveteen shirt in my stash for ages, didn’t know what to do with it since much of the plush has worn off. Today I cut away a chunk that was less worn than the rest, squared the edges as best I could and added a brown cotton backing. At first I thought of making a small pouch, then decided to just leave it flat so it can be like a mug mat, though too large for that; it measures 10″ x 6.5″ (and sadly dipped in the middle when I hand stitched the opening closed).
Made another quick collage featuring a commemorative stamp from Australia, a scrunched up empty tea bag, stars stamped in silver, and other bits from my stash.
I found it fascinating to learn that the first flight from England to Australia was in 1919, when aerial post started! Do you remember those tissue-thin blue airmail envelopes and paper? Stamped with Par Avion. I wonder when those ceased being used? Anyone know?

I made another collage today, using up bits and pieces: a scrap of paper towel dyed yellow with tumeric!, a liner from a raspberry package, paper, fabric, and butterflies cut from washi tape. EnJoy!

Saturday Collage
I made this lovely little collage this evening, inspired by Natasa of Treasure Books. The ground is a torn scrap of paper grocery bag adhered to a piece cut from a tissue box. I used bits and pieces from the pile of scraps that have been waiting for me to use up. I love how it turned out! EnJoy!

May 2 Collage
I’ve decided to drop the themes I started this 100 day project with; it was feeling too limiting. Now I’m just focused on creating Something each day for 100 days! And there will be days that are not consecutive.
I made this sweet little book mark from one side of a cracker box, using more scraps from the Graphic 45 A Lady’s Diary to cover it. I particulary love the lace flower with dangly bits, cut down from a larger piece of lace trim. What will I create next? Stay tuned! EnJoy!
I had a sign from a dollar store that I wanted to revamp; originally it had sunflowers and the words “Give thanks.” I forgot to take a photo of the original, oops. Unfortunately the sign got a bit warped from being hung outside for a long time; this new version will remain indoors!
Using papers from Graphic 45 “A Lady’s Diary” collection, I pieced images, lifted a couple off the page with bits of foam backing, and added cording and gimp along the top edge. I made the large flowers from some lace in my stash that is the perfect color, and added some peachy flat-back pearls and faceted glass ones for some subtle sparkle. I replaced the twine hanger with beads from my stash, and finshed off the back with black felt. I’m quite please with how it turned out. EnJoy!
I was inspired by Gi Kerr’s tutorial for an envelope journal, and came up with my own version. It took me a couple of tries to get the score lines in the correct place (when you flip the paper over, they’re opposite to where you started!). Because I love the image on the front, I tucked the flap inside so as not to hide the lady. Also reversed placement of journaling spots, as I didn’t want to cover up the pink patterned paper completely. The papers I used are from Graphic 45. I’m so pleased with how it came out! EnJoy!
I made another cute pouch with a small paper bag! First I cut off the bottom of the bag, then glued the sides and bottom edge so that it became a pouch. The blue paper on front is dyed with more of the purple cabbage leaf water; I discovered it tears easily when I was gluing. For the large tag, I glued 3 layers of book pages together, then mounted the trimmed tag onto card stock. The trims are from my stash, as is the ribbon.
EnJoy!
Goodness! I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep up with this project after all; it’s been two weeks since I posted for Day 3! Lots going on in other areas of my life which has distracted me.
I began making a papier-mâché bowl with torn strips of a thin paper bag. I layered a produce bag over the outside of a glass bowl to prevent the paper from sticking, and used watered-down white glue to soak the paper strips in. After adding a few layers, over several days, I removed the glass bowl. Alas, much of the plastic produce bag stuck to the inside of the paper bowl! I peeled some of it off, but stopped when the paper started peeling away with the bag.
Finally hit on lining the papier-mâché bowl with empty tea bags instead of more paper bag strips. I brushed thinned glue onto an area of the bowl, added half the tea bag (first opened those and scraped out any remaining tea leavs), then painted more glue on top. I debated adding another layer to the outer part of the bowl, and today declared it done!
Today I also made some faux hand made paper, inspired by Natasa of Treasure Books. I glued together layers of thin white paper towel using water-thinned white glue, and sprinkled some peppermint leaves from a used tea bag in between the layers. After the paper was tacky-dry, I ironed it with a layer of parchment between paper and iron. Intriguing! EnJoy!
